How to Make a Dried Flower Arrangement for Spring

Make an Everlasting Spring Centerpiece

Spring has sprung, and what better way to celebrate than with a beautiful dried flower arrangement that will last all season long? Say goodbye to wilting blooms and hello to a sustainable centerpiece that requires zero maintenance. Whether you're hosting an Easter brunch, celebrating Mother's Day, or throwing a spring birthday bash, a dried flower arrangement is the perfect way to add a touch of whimsy to your celebration.

What You'll Need:

To create your own everlasting centerpiece, you'll need a few things :

A variety of dried flowers in different shapes and sizes, the recipe I've used is below.

A pedestal vase or container of your choice

Floral foam or chicken wire formed into a ball to fit into your container

Garden Scissors or Floral Shears

    Flower Recipe

One full bunch of each of these varieties :

    Pink Strawflower

    Blue Globe Thistle

    Pearl Achillea

    Yellow Billy Balls

    Baby's Breath

    White Bunny Tail

    Yellow Tansy

    Let's Get Started:

First things first, gather your dried flowers and start playing around with different combinations. You don't need to follow my recipe, you can get creative and mix and match colors, textures, and heights to create a combo that speaks to you. I recommend choosing one or two larger flowers (in this case the blue globe thistle and pick straw flower,) a filler (like the baby's breath and pearl achillea here,) and a few florals with fun shapes like the billy balls shown here.

Once you've settled on a design, trim the stems of your dried flowers to the desired length. Pro tip: cut them taller than you think you'll need them, you can always cut them shorter as you go but you can't add length!

Next, place your floral foam or ball of chicken wire in the bottom of your vase to help anchor the stems. If you're using a clear vase, you can also add some decorative stones or moss to cover the foam and add a pop of color.

Add the filler first to create the overall shape and size of you arrangement, cutting some stems shorter to cover the base around the edge of the container, and some taller. Next add your smaller stems in clusters of 3-5 stems, play with different heights here as well. Then add in your 'focal' flowers, like the straw flower and blue globe, placing these mostly lower in the arrangement. I like to angle a few of these very low to hang over the edge of the vase.

Keep going until you're happy with your arrangement, it's easy to get discouraged half way through but just keep adding more flowers! In the end you'll have a beautiful floral creation you'll feel proud to gift or adorn your home as a personal touch of spring.
