Decorating with Dried Flowers for the Holidays
Decorating with Dried Flowers for the Holidays
The winter months can be long and bleak, and bringing nature indoors to breath some life into the home has been a long beloved tradition. Every year I love to mark the holiday season with evergreen garlands, wreaths and flower arrangements. My only struggle is with keeping those greens fresh in the months leading up to Christmas, and while I’ve tried artificial decor it just doesn’t have the same natural wild beauty.
So how do I keep my holiday wreaths and garlands fresh looking all season long? I use preserved evergreens and flowers, which have been put in a natural glycerin solution to preserved their vibrant color and fresh feel. The best part is that they’re not plastic, but will stay fresh and green for years, so you can pack them away after Christmas and bring them out again next year.
My favorite varieties this year are preserved cedar, cypress, juniper, red button flowers, white immortelle, white silver daisy, preserved magnolia and white hydrangea. I love to craft these flowers into bright and cheery Christmas Wreaths, Mantle Garlands, and Holiday Centerpieces that I can enjoy all season long.
